Success is too elusive in this town, that's why you need to move.

There were two travelers who moved to a new town, leaving behind their old lives. Both travelers had a cloud of uncertainty over their heads. Would this move work out the way they wanted it too? Someone recommended they go and talk to the great wise man of the new town, he might be able to offer them some insight.

The first guy visited the wise man and asked "What would it be like for me living in this new town? The last place I lived, I hated it. The people were rude, self centered and angry. Opportunities were non-existent; it was just terrible. I dreaded leaving my house every single morning because I knew I would get into some sort of altercation with someone during my commute. I needed a new start so I packed up all my stuff and moved here. I would like to know, how are the people here? How are the opportunities? Will I like it here better than my last town?" The wise man responded, "Nothing is different here my friend, the people are the same and the opportunities are non-existent. As a matter of fact, you are going to hate it here just as much."

The second guy visited the same wise man and asked, "What would it be like for me living here? I just loved where I lived last. I met some of my closest friends there. It was an opportunity-rich environment in which I excelled professionally, personally, and spiritually. I left because my job transferred me here. Do you think I will make the adjustment easily here? The wise man response was, "Your new home will be just as fun and rewarding with lots of opportunities and amazing individuals with whom you can develop lifelong friendships. You will never forget your old home-town, but I see this new town becoming just like home for you. You will have similar successes and abundance of opportunities awaiting you."

The point here is, it amazes us when we hear people say that moving and leaving all the negative things in their lives behind will make them happier. If that's the case, then, you must leave yourself behind, the old you that is. The one common denominator in your life is "YOU". For things to change for you, you have to change. You have to become better. Once you become better, only then will you be able to fulfill your moral and spiritual obligations to reach the pinnacle of your success. Go out today, and instead of walking with your head down, say hi to 10 people you walk by. Walk around with a smile on your face and see how people react to you. Be extremely nice to the waiter or waitress that waits on you during lunch. Call them sir or mam, show them some respect. It costs you nothing to give someone the respect they deserve, but the rewards could be priceless. Do that for the next 21 days until it becomes a habit. See how much joy and good fortune you'll attract by changing your attitude, your mindset, your "way of being." (that's my landmark education talk) :)

Take some time to reflect on this. I want to hear from you, so leave us your comments and feedback.

Talk soon,

Eric
